| Agriculture Fabrication | This class emphasizes welding and fabrication skills for entry level employment in the agricultural industry. Students will learn basic oxyacetylene, TIG, and arc welding; basic metal working skills. In addition, students will have an opportunity to participate in Future Farmers of America (F.F.A.) and compete in local and state-wide events. Students will be responsible for completing a culminating project using skills learned. |

| Architectural Drafting | This course is designed to provide students with the skills needed to enter the work force in the computer-aided drafting field at entry-level positions in the production of mechanical and pictorial drawing, mechanical drafting and technical illustration fields and to use the computer to create three-dimensional and plane drawings. The students will also learn mechanical and hand lettering, measuring, plotting and inking. |

| Auto Body | Students will learn the tools, materials and techniques used to repair damaged auto bodies and fenders. The course also includes metal straightening, welding, identification, and use of tools. |

| Auto Paint/Refinishing | This course is designed to prepare students with the skills necessary for entry-level positions within the automotive refinishing field. The training emphasis is on metal and plastic surface preparation, masking techniques and materials, application and sanding of primer and paint finish coats, pre and post vehicle painting clean up, and detailing techniques. Job search and survival skills will be covered extensively. Safety is an ongoing and integral part of this course and will be taught in each area of learning. In addition, self-confidence, customer relations, pride of workmanship, job responsibility, and proper attitudes will be learned and practiced. Students will select and interview for an intern spot in an auto body and paint shop. Students will intern 6 weeks the first semester and 18 weeks the second semester as advanced training. The shop evaluations must be positive in order to receive a Certificate of Proficiency from the Auto Paint/Refinishing class with the teacher making the final decision. |

Students will learn automobile tune-up, wheel balance, lubrication, and brake system repair. Theory of alignment is taught. The course also includes ignition, charging, electrical, and fuel system diagnosis and repair. |

| Banking and Finance | This class is designed to prepare the students for an entry-level teller position in a bank. Emphasis will be on the history of banking and money, banking vocabulary, economics, the stock market, accounting (personal and business), how to balance cash, how to reconcile customer statements, how to prepare a resume and cover letters, how to write letters, memos, and e-mails, how to be a team member and work with a variety of different types and ages of people, how to dress for success, and how to provide customer service. |

| Cabinet Making Technology | This course is designed to instruct students in the use and operation of woodworking and cabinet shop tools. Students will receive instruction in furniture making, cabinetry, wood and wood by-products and materials used in the construction of furniture. This course provides advanced instruction to individuals and as teams to design and implement production projects, which involves project planning, cost analysis, material selection, construction, marketing, and distribution of singular and mass production products. Students integrate other disciplines, including mathematics, English, science, business, and art. |

| Computer Business Software | Students will learn Microsoft programs such as: Word, Access, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint. Students will also learn data entry, filing, 10-key calculations, word processing, data management, computer applications, various business applications and language arts review. Scanners and digital cameras will be used for marketing assignments. Students will work with IBM computers. Suggested typing speed 35 wpm to progress through class effectively. |

| Computer Repair and Maintenance | This course is designed to prepare students to enter the work force as an entry-level Business Environment (or personal) Computer Repair Technician. The instructional activities of this course will include the identification of computer system problems to determine whether they are hardware or software related, how to perform preventative maintenance functions, and follow procedures for the removal and installation of memory and other accessory boards. This course provides fundamental repair skills on PC's, MAC's as well as the use of digital camera and phone equipment as they relate to computers; printers & print functions. Course includes MS Excel and operating systems software. |

| Computerized Accounting | Students will learn to analyze, plan, record, and interpret financial information using the double-entry accounting system. This course covers the accounting cycle including the use of journals, ledgers, worksheets, preparation of income statements and balance sheets and specialized accounting functions such as banking, petty cash, and payroll. Students use the computers for 10-key calculations and for producing financial reports using Excel. |

| Construction Technology | This course prepares students with the skills and knowledge for entry-level employment in the construction field. Students will complete specific construction projects and cabinetwork in class. The training emphasis is on the layout, framing, masonry, window and door installation, finish carpentry and other aspects of residential construction. |

| Culinary Arts | This course is designed to introduce students to the variety of careers related to the food service and hospitality industry. Instruction will include food preparation, the science of food and nutrition, nutrition and health, food safety, meal management, customer relations, and business management in the food industry. Upon completion of the program the student should be able to obtain an entry level position in a food service establishment. |

| Dental Assistant | This course is designed to prepare students for employment in a dental office as a dental assistant. Students will learn dental terms, x-ray techniques, instrument identification and preparation, chair-side assisting and preventative dentistry skills. Students will prepare and take the examination for the State dental x-ray license. The ROP Dental Assistant class has been approved by the Board of Dental Examiners for dental x-ray licensing in California. Students must pass a State dental x-ray examination to work as a Dental Assistant. |

| Diversfield Occupations | Diversified Occupations is an elective class, which combines paid employment with classroom instruction. Students attend their own jobs during the week, and attend a class session once a week. Students will develop responsible work habits, positive attitudes, professional self-confidence, necessary job skills, and a personal portfolio, which can be used to secure and retain employment in the community. Students must have an approved, legally paid job while enrolled in this elective. A grade and course credit is earned by completion of the course requirements: attending class, submitting paycheck stubs, keeping weekly time sheets, taking tests, and completing a portfolio while submitting required forms. This course will teach students how to get a job, keep a job, economic awareness, personal finance, and career awareness. Students will develop a portfolio which shows the abilities, knowledge and skills achieved. |

| Emergency First Responder | Students will learn to provide immediate medical attention in a variety of situations, and to assist emergency medical service providers (EMS). Completion of this class will provide a strong background useful in many careers including: fire service, sports medicine, life-guard positions, ski patrol, medical personnel, and in preparation for EMT courses. In addition to First Aid and Emergency Medical Care, the course includes: Anatomy and Physiology, Body Systems, and Medical Terminology (including basic medical terms in both English and Spanish). Upon completion, students will become certified in both First Aid and CPR. |

| Environmental Horticulture Science | This course is designed for students that are interested in environmental horticulture. Students will learn basic seed sowing, growth schedules, plant development, soil analysis, pest management, fertilizer formulations and applications. Students will also learn fundamentals of environmental ecology and basic biotechnology applications. The course will prepare students for entry-level employment in the nursery and greenhouse industry. |

| Fashion Retail Merchandising | This course is designed to prepare students for entry-level employment in the retail and retail management field. Students will learn the basic elements of fashion design, as well as sales and display techniques, money handling, customer relations, entrepreneurship, and retail management skills. Students will be placed in a retail store for internship. This is an opportunity for hands-on experience. Students must follow all ROP rules and store policies, including store dress code. |

| Floral Design | This course provides students with professional florist skills while building solid career experiences in floral design, display and marketing, and customer service skills. Students will learn the proper care and handling of flowers, plants, and foliage; how to evaluate floral materials and arrangements; how to utilize floral tools, supplies, and products; how to apply design principles to the floral medium; how to construct arrangements for all occasions; how to display, price and market floral designs. Following classroom instruction, students train at sites in the floral industry. |

| Graphic Design | This course is designed to prepare students for entry-level employment in the advertising and graphic design industries. Students will develop a variety of two and three-dimensional projects. Students will learn about basic design and composition, principles of color, advertising layout, basic ruling and inking, the fundamentals of type usage, and basic computer word processing and desktop publishing skills using a Macintosh computer system. Oxnard District students that take this class may earn alternative credit toward fine arts graduation requirements. |

Students will observe a variety of health care occupations as they participate in workplace learning. |

| Information Technology Academy 3 Com, Networking, Oracle | This academy houses 2 Internet academies. Students will gain skills necessary to enter the networking profession or to obtain an Industry based certification. Student's skills are developed through hands-on training on high-tech networking equipment. Based upon the academy the student enters they will develop skills that will include console and command line instruction installation and configuration of client network hardware and software. |

| Machine Tool Technology | This course is designed for students who are interested in preparing for careers in machine tool and manufacturing occupations. Students will be given an introduction to the fundamentals of machine shop theory and practice, and will work on projects that are designed to give them hands-on experience with the lathe, mill and grinders. Students will be introduced to computer numerical control machines (CNC) and computer aided manufacturing. The projects are designed to give experience with setting up, programming, and operating the CNC machine. |

| Medical Assistant | This course is designed to prepare students for both front and back office positions in a doctor's office or medical clinic. The course includes medical terminology, anatomy, billing, coding, instruments, and equipment used in an office, how to take patient's vital signs, perform lab tests, take chart notes, HIPAA regulations, and assist the physician to care for the patient. First semester is classroom training and second semester is clinical experience in a doctor's office or medical clinic. |

| Network Technology | Students who complete this course will be qualified to take the test for Cisco CCNA certification. This course prepares students for entry-level jobs as network technicians. Student's skills are developed from hands-on training on high-tech networking equipment. Students with intermediate computer skills will learn IT core basics such as local area network fundamentals, internet fundamentals, server types and operations, protocol and addressing, topologies, OSI models and media types and network security issues and solutions. Students will develop skills that will include command line operations, installation and configuration of client networking hardware, software, media, routers and servers, MS Excel and computer operating. |

Theory and practical applications will train individuals to assemble, program, maintain and repair robotics devices. Included in the course are types of robotic devices, computer control systems and robot computer language programming. These areas are integrated to culminate with a class project. Students achieving competency in this course have an opportunity for employment as a Robot Technician, Robotic Machine Operator or Electro-Mechanical Technician and continuing their training at a post-secondary educational institution. |

| Screen Printing | The purpose of this class is to introduce the students to the textile screen-printing and embroidery field. The students will learn textile screen-printing, printing terminology, equipment used for the printing process, silk screened products, inks and ink characteristics, multi-colored projects, and how to print on textiles and vinyl (decals). The class is designed to allow students to design and print their own projects. Students will also learn how to digitize and create images to embroider. |

| Video Productions | This course provides advanced instruction in the use of video equipment and prepares students to work in the television and video production industry. Classroom instruction covers basic studio, news writing, camera operations, anchoring, studio directing, computer graphics, writing and producing. Students will learn to operate VCR cameras, audio equipment, and lighting and computer editing equipment. Participation in activities outside of regular class time is required. |

| Virtual Enterprise | This course is designed for students that are interested in entrepreneurship. Virtual enterprise is a simulated business that is set up and run by students to prepare them for working in a real business environment. The students determine the nature of their business, its products and services, management and structure, and learn the daily operations of a business under the guidelines of consultants with the support of a real business partner. Emphasis will be placed by using current business software packages and the internet for business transactions. Students will be prepared for many aspects of the business career pathway as well as for entrepreneurship. |
